A Source of Power
It is estimated that Florida, known in the U.S. for being the infamous sunshine state, is projected to have 230 sunny days each year. Although sunshine is highly precedent in the State of Florida, it is also noted that the average solar panel collects 5.5 hours of sunlight per day. This equals 65 hours in a 30-day billing cycle and an average of 1,980 hours of sunlight produced in a year.
In the month of January iQ Power customers collectively generated more than 232,000 kilowatt hours of solar energy, representing $27,840 in utility bill savings for the month (despite being a cooler winter month). With more than 1.56 megawatts of residential solar photovoltaic installations totaling over 6,500 PV Panels, iQ Power was recently recognized as the #1 Installer in Florida by Solar Reviews.
Utilizing Sun Power
Everyone enjoys the sun differently, but some happen to utilize it most in the summer months. From our iQ Power finance and permitting team, Marisa shares her favorite summer activities which include floating in the pool and taking her kids to water parks. Diana, from our iQ Power customer service team gets especially excited about exploring central Florida’s lakes and rivers on pontoon boats, snorkeling with wildlife and visiting some of the most incredible springs Florida has to offer.
You’ll be surprised to know that most of these summertime activities have already incorporated solar technology into their design and enjoying these solar-structured opportunities is becoming more and more readily available.
Not only are solar companies providing energy for homes now, but they are also incorporating solar panels into bigger and more unique structures. Some of these include solar powered parking garages, solar powered amusement parks, speed boats with solar roof panels and even solar sails on cargo ships.
